Senegalese International, Sadio Mane has tipped France international, Karim Benzema to win the World best player of the year Award.
OsunDaily News recall that the Real Madrid striker, Karim Benzema won three trophies, including the Pichichi award at the MARCA 2022 Award night, and he made it clear that he won’t stop there.
The 34-year old striker was impressive last season for the Los Merengues, scoring 44 goals, and winning the UEFA Champions League and La Liga title for his club.
Mane, who had a strong season with his former team, Liverpool, says the France striker is deserving of the special award.
The Bayern Munich striker, however, is a contender in the same award category.
The Senegalese who played for Liverpool and won two domestic league titles and a Champions League medal told TribalFootball in an interview that Benzema was the best fit for the award.
“Honestly, I think that Karim deserves it this year. He’s had a great, great season with Real Madrid. He’s won the Champions League… I think he easily deserves it, so I’m happy for him.
“I know I won the African Cup of Nations, it was a relief for me and for the whole country, and I’m really happy to have won my first AFCON with my country.
“But I think it’s Karim who deserves it, and I honestly believe that,” he said.
