A representative of the womenโ€™s empowerment and child protection ministry in Indonesia hasย confirmed that at least 32 of the victims of the recent stadium stampede in the country were children aged between 3 and 17 years.

According to a previous report by Najia News, more than 129 people have died as a result of the violence that erupted during a football game in the Indonesian League as a result of the police using tear gas to break up fights.

The women’s empowerment and child protection ministry official, Nahar earlier estimated in a report that 17 children had died, but a fresh account of this incident has revealed that 32 kids died in the stampede.

Indonesia’s chief security minister, Mahfud MD said a team made up of soccer experts, fact-finding investigators, and government representatives would be formed to look into the incident.

The team would be ready to ascertain what happened at the event and who was responsible.

Meanwhile, Malang has received a police and sports delegation to look into one of the deadliest stadium disasters ever.

A suspension of all Liga 1 games has been authorized by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo until the investigation has been concluded.

Mahfud added that the victims’ injuries would be treated for free, and a provision of 50 million rupiah has been made to compensate the families of the children involved.
