Governors, ex-Governors, Senators, former lawmakers, and political bigwigs on Monday stormed the presidential campaign kick-off of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential flagbearer, Atiku Abubakar.
OsunDaily News reports that the formal inauguration of the partyโs campaign was held at the Nest of Champions International Stadium.
However, aggrieved members of the main opposition party including Governors of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, and his counterparts in Oyo State, Seyi Makinde; Benue State, Samuel Ortom; Abia State, Ikpeazu Okezie; Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi; former Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose; former Cross Rivers State Governor, Donald Duke and other top party chieftains stayed away from the event.
Those at the campaign inauguration include the partyโs National Assembly members and National Working Committee members led by the National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu, among other party stalwarts.
Members of the PDP Board of Trustees led by a former Senate President, Chief Adolphus Wabara were also present at the venue.
The PDP governors present at the rally include Sokoto State Governor and Director-General of the Campaign Council, Aminu Tambuwal; the Governor of Adamawa State, Ahmadu Fintri; Taraba State Governor, Darius Ishaku; and the host governor and chairman of the PDP Campaign Council, Udom Emmanuel.
Others are the Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri; his Bauchi State counterpart, Bala Mohammed; Delta State Governor and Atikuโs running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa; and Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki.
Also at the event were the former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; former Niger State Governor, Babangida Aliyu; former Jigawa State Governor, Sule Lamido and others.
