Accuses the Osun state government of illegal interference and assuming the role of the State legislature.ย
It has been reliably gathered by our corespondents that some local government caretaker chairmen in Osun state have grown impatient at the decision of the state government to continue to withhold the July allocation of the local councils in the state.ย
Recall that the state governor has continued the illegal culture of mandating the local governments to remit their allocation back to the state, a recurring practice of the APC administration in the state, after which the governor and his cabinet will now determine how much will be given to each LG’s as it pleases them.ย

There are strong indications that since the July 16 electoral loss of the incumbent governor, the LG’s allocation has since been withheld by the state government which has effectively hindered governance and development at the grassroots level.ย
Amid growing tension and internal protest by the caretaker chairmen, the state government however sent out a circular yesterday requesting for the breakdown of each local council expenditure for the month of July 2022 before the money could be released unto them.ย
Reports from some of the caretaker chairmen revealed their frustration at the continuous interference of the state government in the financial activities of the local councils despite having no constitutional power to do so as that is the role of the state house of assembly.ย
It is indeed astonishing that the local governments in the state under the directive of the state government are not operating under the fiscal budgeting regime by articulating developmental projects at the grassroots but rather on piecemeal procedures in flagrant disregard to the constitutional provisions and requirements.ย
A caretaker chairman who preferred to be anonymous confirmed that to our corespondents.
