The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday met with the Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike in Port Harcourt.

The meeting which lasted for almost four hours was centred around the crisis in the party ahead of the 2023 general elections.

Governor Wike while addressing newsmen after the meeting reiterated that he and his allies are not dumping the party.

The former presidential aspirant also called for unity in the party despite their demand for the National Chairman of the party, Iyorchia Ayu to resign from office.

The spokesman for the Atiku campaign, Charles Aniagwu while speaking on the outcome of the meeting held on Tuesday noted that the end to the crisis in the party is close.

According to Aniagwu, the reconciliation efforts of the party leadership are yielding results.

Aniagwu while speaking on AIT said Atiku, his running mate, Ifeanyi Okowa and other leaders in the party are involved in the reconciliation move.

The campaign spokesman added that the PDP leadership are working hard to resolve the issues ahead of the elections.

Aniagwu said, “Atiku has said he is not going to leave anybody behind so what we are doing is to ensure that everybody comes on board.

“But beyond the issue of the votes, Atiku is interested in carrying everybody along even after winning the election, by the grace of God.

“What he is doing now is part of his desire to carry everybody along and we commend our other governors for remaining in the party to express their grievances within the party.”

He noted that at the end of the day, the main opposition party will move as one family to solve the situation in the country.
