The Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed has cautioned Nigerians against voting for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar in the 2023 elections.
The Minister alleged on Thursday that the PDP does not have any good plans for Nigerians as the party’s only focus is to continue looting the nation’s treasury.
Mohammed who spoke with newsmen on the sidelines of attending the 65th meeting of the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO)’s Commission for Africa in Arusha, Tanzania, lamented that only meagre resources were left in the country’s coffers when the All Progressives Congress (APC) took over power in 2015.
He argued that if the PDP is able to reclaim power, the only agenda is to continue looting the country’s commonwealth.
OsunDaily News reports the Minister spoke against the recent financial controversy that enveloped the PDP over the return of N122.4 million by some members of the PDP’s national working committee (NWC).
Mohammed called for a probe of the major opposition party’s finances.
In his words, “If a man can steal from himself, he will steal without any restrain from other people.
“The problem is that PDP will never change and like they say, a leopard will never change its spots.
“When PDP lost elections in 2015, they admitted that they had learnt their lessons, but obviously, they have learnt nothing.
“God forbid, if they ever have access to public purse again, they will leave no kobo there. We know what we met when we assumed office in 2015, we are still wailing from it.
“We hope Nigerians have now seen from this scandal the intention of PDP if they ever have access to public treasury.”
I Have Never Received Such Money From APC
Continuing, Mohammed said such payments are strange in political circles as he has never received such as a member of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) or in his previous political party.
“Never did I remember that any form of money, call it, accommodation, or whatsoever, was ever paid into the account of any member of the NWC of either ACN or APC,” he said.
