A Federal High Court is expected to hear a suit seeking the disqualification of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Bola Tinubu and the flagbearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

Justice Inyang Ekwo on Friday fixed the suit seeking to disqualify Atiku and Tinubu for allegedly breaching the Electoral Act, 2022 for October 6, 2022

Naija News gathered that the suit was instituted by former Minister of State for Education, Chukwuemeka Nwajiuba, and a non-governmental organisation under the aegis of the Incorporated Trustees of Rights for All International.

Justice Inyang Ekwo ordered service of all the relevant court processes as well as hearing notices on all the defendants in the matter.

Recall that Nwajiuba contested for the presidential ticket of the APC which was eventually clinched by Tinubu.

The former minister and the organisation in the suit filed through their lawyer, Okere Nnamdi, claimed that the presidential primary of the APC which produced Tinubu was marred by corruption and massive vote-buying.

Nwajiuba stated that the primary election of the ruling party saw the majority of the delegates bought over with dollars.

The former presidential aspirant in a move to strengthen his allegation against Tinubu, attached a video recording showing the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi lamenting that delegates at the APC primary sold their votes.

Nwajiuba and the organisation in the suit also queried Tinubu’s source of income and his educational qualifications.

They urged the court to declare that Tinubu, “who had previously sworn an affidavit in the INEC nomination form declaring that he lost his primary and secondary school documents and benefitted therefrom, cannot in a later affidavit deny and abandon same facts deposed in the previous affidavit and thus falsely contradicting his academic qualifications.”
