The Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC has arrested and paraded criminal syndicates who specialise in motorcycle snatching along Furfuri and Bungudu Local Government Areas of the State.

The NSCDC State Commandant, Sani Mustapha said operatives of the Corps clamped down on the notorious gang who attempted to snatch a Bajaj motorcycle from a commercial motorcycle rider at the Gada Biyu Area of the Gusau metropolis.

According to him, the three suspected motorcycle snatchers were identified as Abdulkarim Usman, 29 years of age, Aminu Ibrahim, 28 and Nasiru Bala, 20 years of age.

โ€œThey conspired with one Sani Samaila, who is a motorcycle dealer at Yan Dole Motorcycle Market in Gusau Metropolis, to snatch and kill a Bajaj motorcycle owner with motorcycle number plate number TMA 162 QH from the owner who engaged in lawful Okada business.

The Commaรฑdant who spoke through the commandโ€™s Public Relations Officer, Ikor Oche, said they had confessed to the crime, noting that they struck the victim with a hard stick known as Gora, with the intent to kill him, and made away with his motorcycle before they were arrested.

He said they were arrested due to the timely intervention of the operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, (NSCDC) in the State.

Two Bajaj motorcycles were recovered from the suspects as exhibits.

The NSCDC Command has also paraded suspects described as a notorious group of individuals who participated in breaching public peace and burning the operational vehicle of the Corps, on April 10, during the Eid prayers at the Central Eid ground in Gusau.

The Commandant pointed out that the group of individuals had planned to cause mayhem at the Eid praying ground, as revenge for a fight they had at a gold mining site in Niger Republic, with a group called Yan Arle.

The NSCDC commandant said all the suspects will be charged to courts of competent jurisdiction after the conclusion of the investigation, for the prosecution to serve as a deterrent to others.
