The Zamfara Commissioner of Information and Culture, Alhaji Mannir Haidara, has cautioned against moves by some politicians to tarnish the image of Governor Dauda Lawal and his administration.

Haidara, in a statement issued in Gusau on Monday, condemned the recent statements against the administration, alleging that the statements were issued by some media veterans in the state.

โ€œThe state government noticed with dismay that some media veterans have been engaged by politicians to blackmail the state government to achieve their negative and selfish interests.

โ€œItโ€™s very unfortunate for veteran journalists who have attained management positions in the media industry to venture into mischief making.

โ€œThis is very unfortunate with a valueless statements written by some veterans in the media industry, dwelling on issues centered around the present administration in the state and personality of Gov. Dauda Lawal,โ€ Haidara said.

โ€œI did not intend to comment on the unfounded allegations against our government but it has became necessary for me to give the fact to the general public.โ€

According to the Commissioner, all the allegations by mischief makers that Gov. Lawal failed to tackle insecurity in the state were unfounded.

โ€œWe are all aware that when Lawal took over as the governor of the state, the security challenges were already escalated and all socio-economic developments grounded.

โ€œKidnapping, cattle rustling and other heinous crimes became rampant in all the nooks and crannies of the state.

โ€œWhen we took over, no drastic measure were in place to tackle insecurity, many communities across the state were destroyed while residents became refugees in their lands,โ€ he explained.

โ€œIn only three months of Lawalโ€™s administration, he has initiated various policies and programmes to ensure that lasting peace and stability in the state.

โ€œHe cleared all the inherited outstanding three months salaries and pensions by the immediate past administration in the state.

โ€œCitizens of the state are now seeing and feeling the impacts of security economically and socially, wise policies and programmes by the peopleโ€™s-oriented government.โ€

The Information Commissioner cautioned media veterans in the state to desist from engaging themselves in such empty statements. (NAN)
