The Federal Government has announced a date to commence free train services to passengers ahead of this yearโs yuletide celebration.
Fidet Okhiria, the Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation, NRC, disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubuโs directive.
Fidet said the commencement date is Thursday, 21st December, and would last till 4th January, 2024.
He urged passengers to register for free online ticketing, noting that commuters can only board with the ticket.
โIn line with Mr Presidentโs directive, the General Public may note that the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) will commence free train service on its entire Passengersโ services from Thursday 21st December 2023 to Thursday 4th January 2024, both days inclusive.
โPassengers are advised to obtain free tickets via the online e-ticketing platforms only. Tickets will not be issued at any of the Corporationโs Train Stations.
โPlease note that no commuter will be allowed to board the train without a ticket. We enjoined commuters to be orderly, obey security personnel and the laid down boarding instructions of the NRC and those of its officials while at the station and on-board the trains,โ he said.
