Barcelona boss Xavi has named the three players who played very well during his side’s Copa del Rey defeat to Athletic Club.
OsunDailyNG recalls that Xavi watched as Athletic Club defeated Barca 4-2 in the Copa del Rey quarterfinal on Wednesday.
Brothers Inaki and Nico Williams both scored in extra time to give the host the victory over Xavi’s side.
Gorka Guruzeta gave Athletic Club an early lead with a strike from a rebound inside the first minute.
Barcelona hit back before the break with two goals within five minutes through Robert Lewandowski and Lamine Yamal.
Athletic Club fought back to level in the 49th minute with a towering header by Oihan Sancet before they went on to win the match in extra time.
Speaking after the game, Xavi said (via Barca Universal): “Hector Fort, Pau Cubarsi, and Lamine Yamal all played very well.”
