Immediate past President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan, has called for better remuneration for Nigerian teachers.

The lawmaker, who represents Yobe North Senatorial District in the National Assembly, made the call in a statement released to celebrate the 2023 World Teachers Day.

According to him, teachers are faced with unprecedented challenges and go the extra mile to provide quality education and bridging the education gap.

Lawan in the statement said, โ€œToday, on World Teacherโ€™s Day, we would like to extend our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude to all the dedicated and passionate teachers around the world.

โ€œTeachers play a vital role in shaping the future generation. They not only impart knowledge and skills but also instill values, inspire creativity, and nurture the dreams of their students. They are the ones who provide guidance, support, and encouragement, often going above and beyond to ensure their studentsโ€™ success.

โ€œIn the midst of unprecedented challenges faced in the education sector, teachers have proven their resilience, adaptability, and unwavering commitment to their studentsโ€™ education.

โ€œDespite the numerous obstacles they face, teachers are always willing to go the extra mile to ensure that no student is left behind. Their dedication to providing quality education knows no bounds. They tirelessly work towards bridging the education gap, striving to create a more inclusive and equitable learning environment for all.

โ€œToday, we celebrate not only their hard work but also their incredible impact on society. We recognize their role in shaping individuals who will become future leaders, innovators, and change-makers. We acknowledge the countless hours of preparation, planning, and personal investment that they put into their profession, often without much recognition or visibility.

โ€œAs we honor World Teacherโ€™s Day, let us all take a moment to express our gratitude to the teachers who have left a lasting impression on our lives. We thank them for their selflessness, passion, and unwavering dedication. We salute their resilience and adaptability, especially during these challenging times.

โ€œTo all the teachers in Nigeria, whether in classrooms, virtual spaces, or communities, your contributions are invaluable. You are the guiding light in the lives of countless individuals, and your impact will be felt for generations to come.

โ€œOn this special day, let us come together to celebrate, appreciate, and support our teachers. Let us advocate for better resources, training, and conditions that enable them to continue transforming lives through education.

โ€œHappy World Teacherโ€™s Day!โ€
