The House of Representatives has assured efforts would made to ensure timely attention is given to the Tax Reform Bill and 2025 budget as sitting resumed on Tuesday.

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Abbas Tajudeen, said the two bills which were in the House before the Christmas and New Year recess, were critical to the economic growth of the nation.

Abbas stated this on Tuesday through the Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, who delivered the resumption speech on his behalf.

โ€œThe legislative agenda of the House for 2025 prioritizes the passage of the Appropriation Bill and the Tax Reform Bills, both of which are pivotal to economic recovery and fiscal stability.

โ€œThese reforms are essential for broadening the tax base, improving compliance and reducing dependency on external borrowing.

โ€œThe House will ensure that these reforms are equitable and considerate of the needs of all Nigerians, particularly the most vulnerable,โ€ he said.

OsunDailyNG reported that Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zacch Adedeji, on Monday, after a meeting between federal government representatives and members of the National Assembly led by Senator Abba Moro, said the Tax Reform Bill would be passed

Adedeji disclosed that the Monday meeting was the last. He said all grey areas in the bill were addressed.
