The Aare Onakakanfo of Yoruba land, Iba Gani Adams has reacted to the religious crisis between Muslims and traditional worshippers in Ile-Ife, Osun State.
The high chief warned those behind the crisis to desist from their actions.
Speaking in Amuwo-Odofin in Lagos at the โHarvest of Praiseโ programme of the Eledumare Festival, he stated that the Yorubas would resist any attempt to denigrate the revered stool and palace of the Ooni of Ife.
The Southwestern leader vowed that Yoruba elders would not fold their hands and watch religious fanatics cause an avoidable disruption of peace.
He said, โMuslims, Christians and traditional religion believers have been living together in peace in Ile-Ife for centuries without crisis.
โWhy are some people now using religion to fan the embers of discord in Yoruba land. Ooniโs palace is our glass house, it is our heritage.
โNobody, no matter how highly placed in our society, has the audacity to throw stones at the palace, which is the heritage of my race.โ
Adams, however, hailed the Ooni, HRH Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi for โhandling the Ife crisis in a mature mannerโ.
The Aare insisted that it is his duty to defend the sacred stool and throne โbecause it is the pride of all sons and daughters of Yoruba raceโ.
