The Commander of the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF), Maj Gen Ibrahim Sallau Ali, has revealed that the task force has taken a firm stand against gender-based violence during its operations.

Gen Ali, in a statement via MNJTFโ€™s Chief of Military Public Information, Lieutenant Colonel Abubakar Abdullahi, stated this during the opening ceremony of a workshop on sexual abuse and gender-based violence in a conflict environment held on Monday in Nโ€™Djamena, Chad.

โ€œThe workshop was designed to enhance the understanding of participants regarding the dynamics of sexual exploitation and gender-based violence in operational contexts,โ€ the statement noted.

Gen Ali emphasised that the MNJTF has been instrumental in rescuing thousands of women and girls from the clutches of terrorists in recent years, underscoring the forceโ€™s commitment to upholding human rights and enhancing the protection of vulnerable populations.

He expressed gratitude towards the African Union Mission Support Team for organising the training, recognising the crucial importance of addressing and preventing gender-based violence within the operational framework.

โ€œThe MNJTFโ€™s unequivocal stance on gender-based violence during operations underscores its dedication to promoting a safe and secure environment for all individuals affected by conflict and instability,โ€ he said.
