Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has said his administration is working hard to ease the suffering of the people of the state.

The governor disclosed this at the inauguration of the State Food Security Committee in Osogbo on Wednesday.

Adeleke also revealed that his administration is addressing the current economic crisis through several pro-people programmes.

โ€œAs a government, we are doing a lot to cushion the effect of the hard time on our people.

โ€œWe have introduced so many policy options to ease the burden of the populace. Our administration has deployed the full machinery of government to attend to the immediate needs of the citizenry.

โ€œWe are, however, conscious of the deepening economic conflict. Mr.
President briefed state governors on the state of the nation. Our government is already acting in many areas.

โ€œWe want to step up further by engaging in the newest area of food security.

โ€œThis committee is a response to the challenges of securing access to food and securing the food production and distribution process alongside other issues of palliatives for the people. We have identified a problem which we believe this committee can proffer immediate solutions,โ€ he said.

The governor also charged the committee to suggest measures to strengthen farm security for food production, expand farming activities through state incentives, organise back to farm youth conference, and track foodstuff marketing and pricing.

He also urged it to review and offer new ideas on the operations of ongoing palliative measures and recommend further immediate actions to reduce economic hardship.

โ€œI task the committee to work with speed and produce an interim report in the next few days. I urge the chairman and other committee members to act with a sense of urgency.

โ€œWe need to address issues of the moment with the required focus. This is an important assignment. Your report will receive the full attention of my team,โ€ the governor stated.

Responding, the Committee Chairman, Tola Faseru, who is also the Commissioner for Agriculture, assured of the resolve of the committee members to deliver on the terms of reference.

โ€œWe will work extra hard to deliver on the task at hand. We understand the seriousness of the assignment,โ€ he said.
