Visually impaired teachers recruited by the immediate past administration of Adegboyega Oyetola in Osun State have implored Governor Ademola Adeleke to reinstate them.

The teachers, who are members of the Nigerian Association of the Blind, also begged the governor to rescind the executive order nullifying their appointment.

DAILY POST recalls that the Oyetola administration, before leaving office in November 2022, recruited 1,500 teachers into the stateโ€™s public primary and secondary schools.

However, Adeleke, on assumption of office issued a set of Executive Orders among which nullified the appointment of the teachers.

The affected teachers have been calling on the state government to reinstate them, saying their appointment followed due process.

The visually impaired teachers numbering about 61 also urged Adeleke to employ more of their members who are graduates and qualified to contribute their quota to the growth of the state.

Speaking for the affected persons, one of the leaders of the association, Sunday Adedeji, noted that the joblessness of the sacked teachers has worsened their condition.

Adedeji made this appeal while addressing other members of the association during this yearโ€™s White Cane Safety Day at the School for the Special Needs, Osogbo, on Tuesday.

โ€œWe want to beg our amiable governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke, to show mercy and reinstate our members who were part of the teachers sacked when he assumed office.

โ€œThose affected are about 61 and ever since they have been disengaged, life has been tough for them. We are not happy that our people will be relieved of the work they are managing with at a time many of us who are graduates are still begging government and other stakeholders for employment opportunities,โ€ he said.
