Former Nigeria international, Victor Moses has made an unexpected return to English football by signing with recently relegated Premier League club, Luton Town.
Victor Moses, who is currently 33 years old, was a free agent after leaving Spartak Moscow this summer. He officially signed a deal with the Championship side, Luton, much to the delight of fans and the clubโs management.
Moses who was contracted to Chelsea from 2012 to 2021, initially joined Luton on a trial basis, showcasing his skills during training sessions and impressing the coaching staff.
He further demonstrated his capabilities in a behind-closed-doors match, ultimately convincing Lutonโs manager, Rob Edwards, to offer him a contract, which Moses gladly accepted.
Speaking about Mosesโ signing, Edwards expressed his satisfaction, saying, โVictor is one weโve been talking to for quite a while. He trained with us last week and played 60 minutes in a behind-closed-doors game, and we decided because we think heโs able to come in and help us.
โHe gives us more strength in depth and versatility because heโs someone who can play both sides or as a number ten. Heโs tactically aware and can provide some really good competition for us.โ
Despite the excitement surrounding Mosesโ arrival, Edwards emphasized the importance of allowing the Nigerian winger time to acclimate to the teamโs strategies and style of play.
The coach added, โI donโt want to put too much pressure on him and expect too much too soon. Heโs not going to come in and start the games straight away. Heโs got to get used to what we do and how we play, but heโs fit, heโs able to come in and affect it now, and he definitely makes the squad stronger.โ
Victor Moses brings a wealth of experience to Luton, having contributed to Chelseaโs Premier League victory in 2017 and played a vital role in Inter Milanโs Serie A triumph during the 2019-20 season, both under the management of Antonio Conte.
With his extensive experience across various clubs and countries, including stints in Turkey and Russia, as well as 38 appearances for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Moses is poised to make a significant impact in the English football scene once again.
