The Nasarawa State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has called for calm and responsible conduct from the residents of the state, particularly the youth, following the Monday verdict by the tribunal, which declared David Ombugadu the lawful winner of the March 18 governorship polls.
The judgement delivered by the tribunal, presided over by Justice Ezekiel Ajayi, has caused a surge of mixed reactions and heightened political tensions across the state.
Comrade Jaโafar Muhammad Loko, Chairman, NYCN, Nasarawa chapter, in a statement on Friday, urged residents, especially the youth to maintain composure and express their opinions with restraint, while awaiting the final verdict from the higher court.
The association also called on key figures involved in the case to guide their supporters in preserving peace and stability in the state.
He said, โNasarawa State belongs to all of us and no individual or group of interest is superior to that of another. It is our responsibility to ensure that the state work and we must at all times show concern and contribute to its development.
โAs leaders of young people in the state, we remain ever committed to the peaceful coexistence of the state and its prosperity,โ the statement reads further.
Governor Sule has since directed his legal team to appeal the tribunalโs judgement at the Court of Appeal.
