The governorship election petition tribunal, sitting in Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, will on Saturday deliver judgement in the state governorship election petition .

The petition, which was jointly filed by the state chapter of the New Nigerian Peoples Party, NNPP, and its gubernatorial candidate in March 2023 general election, Professor Sani Yahaya, against the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and the state governor, Agbu Kefas, is seeking for the nullification of the election.

Announcing their decision to deliver judgement tomorrow, the tribunal in a statement made available to journalists on Friday in Jalingo, said, only individuals with accreditation tags will be allowed access to the tribunal premises.

Signed by the tribunal secretary, Kuhe T. Regina, the statement noted that the decision is geared towards managing the limited space in the tribunal.

The tribunal, according to her, have as well made available tags for few accredited members of the fourth estate of the realm.

Other accredited persons that will be granted access to the venue, according to the release, include litigants, counsel, as well as the accredited members of the two political parties.

Parts of the statement read โ€œThis is to notify the general public that the Governorship Election Petitionโ€™s Tribunal will be delivering its judgment on Saturday, September 30, 2023.

โ€œAs a measure to manage the limited space at the venue and ensure effective crowd control, the Tribunal has made accreditation tags available for accredited members of the press, direct litigants, counsel, and party representatives involved.

โ€œAs a result, only individuals with the accreditation tags will be granted access to the premises. We thank you for your usual cooperation.โ€

At the time of filing this report, roads leading to the tribunal premises, as noticed by DAILY POST, have been manned by heavily armed security operatives.
