Chelsea are reportedly working on a deal to sign Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal teammate Antonio Silva from Benfica.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are willing to offer £52 million and Armando Broja as part of a deal to get Silva, whom Ronaldo wanted at Manchester United in the past.
As per a report in The Sun, the Blues have now set sights on the 20-year-old defender after his impressive performances for Benfica.
Chelsea are looking for a long-term replacement for Thiago Silva and see Silva as the ideal replacement for the veteran Brazilian centre-back.
Speaking about Silva amid interest in the player, Benfica manager Roger Schmidt recently insisted that his club will not let him leave this January transfer window.
“We will not let Antonio Silva leave. We are halfway through the season and we have big objectives with Benfica,” Schmidt said.
“He is happy at the club, so this is the end of the matter.”
