A tragic incident occurred in the Mushin area of Lagos State around 6 pm on Monday, when an unidentified man was fatally struck while walking along the railway track.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) confirmed the occurrence in a statement issued on the same day, indicating that the man was discovered deceased on the tracks after being struck by a train.

Confirming the attack, the agencyโ€™s Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, reported that LASEMA responded to an emergency call concerning a train accident near Cappa in Lagos at approximately 18:00 hours.

He said:ย โ€œUpon arrival at the scene of the incident, an adult male, walking along the railway track, was found dead after being hit by an oncoming train.

โ€œFurther investigations conducted revealed that the yet-to-be-identified, half-dressed adult male died immediately on the railway tracks due to the impact of the collision.

โ€œRemains of the adult male have been bagged by the agencyโ€™s response team, while awaiting the arrival of the State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit (SEHMU) officials for onward movement to the morgue.โ€

OsunDailyNG reports that there was tension earlier in jiran community in the Agungi area of Lekki, Lagos, following the gruesome murder of Demola, the first son of the Ojomu of Ajiran land, Tijani Akinloye.

According to sources familiar with the situation who spoke with Punch, the tragic incident occurred on Monday near Chevron Drive, close to Ebano Supermarket.

A source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the case, revealed that Demola was shot and butchered by unidentified gunmen, sparking fear and anxiety among community members.

The brutal assassination has led to a mass exodus from the area, as residents are fearful of further violence.

The management of an estate in the vicinity confirmed the tragic incident in a notice sent to Punch, urging residents to avoid the Chevron, Agungi, and Ajiran areas due to the escalating tension.

The statement read, โ€œThis is to notify all residents that Ajiran (Agungi) kingโ€™s son was assassinated today along Chevron Drive (close to Ebano Supermarket) this morning.

โ€œWe therefore plead to our esteemed residents to avoid Chevron area, Agungi and Ajiran for now for their safety.โ€

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said he was not privy to the matter.
