No fewer than 16 persons, mostly youths, have been reportedly killed by gunmen in Nibo, a community in Awka South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
OsunDailyNG learnt that the tragic incident happened on Sunday as a result of a cult clash in the community.
According to Daily Post, a video shared by a Facebook user shows gory images of persons lying dead on the ground.
The post reads, โPlease avoid Nibo today. Many feared dead already. They said itโs cult clash. Our youths are dying in their numbers.โ
Another Facebook user identified as Ifeyinwa Okeke, who also commented on the incident, said the emergency ward at the state universityโs teaching hospital was filled with victims.
She wrote: โOur emergency ward at Amaku Teaching Hospital, Awka is filled with victims from there. It was terrible.โ
At the time of filing this report, Government authorities in the state are yet to comment on the incident.
In other news, the Cross River State police command has apprehended six suspected Ambazonian rebels.
The Command disclosed on Saturday that it arrested the suspects after they invaded Akamkpa Local Government Area of the state.

Since 2017, Ambazonian rebels have engaged in armed conflict with the Cameroonian military in what is known as the Anglophone Crisis.
Speaking on the arrest, the commandโs Spokesperson, Ewa Igri, said the suspects, whose age ranges between 18 and 36, were paraded with various weapons, improvised explosives devices, booths, charms and flags.
