A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos State, Joe Igbokwe has told oppositions to bury their presidential ambition because President Bola Tinubu will remain in power till 2031.
Speaking via Facebook on Tuesday, Igbokwe argued that Tinubu is destined to remain in power till he completes his two terms.
He said, โIf any presidential candidate is dreaming of winning presidential elections in 2027 I will advise that candidate to perish the thought till 2031.
โPBAT is destined to remain in the seat of power till 2031. He needs eight years to set the record straight.โ
Tinubu emerged president for a four-year term under the APC platform in 2023, beating Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP), among others.
The president is expected to seek re-election in 2027 for a final four-year term terminating in 2031.
Meanwhile, Igbokwe, has stated that nobody living or dead, should refer to former President Muhammadu Buhari as a failure.
Igbokwe asserted that Buhari created a good foundation for President Bola Tinubu to build upon.
Igbokwe said Nigerians should disregard assertions that Buhari was a failure since his imprints and achievements are obvious to all.
He made this known on his Facebook page: โLet nobody living or dead run away with the thinking that PMB is a failure. Perish the thought.
โHe laid the solid foundation for PBAT to build on. We are seeing the footprints and the gains today.โ
This comes after former presidential Special Adviser on Political Matters, Babafemi Ojudu, claimed Buhari was not a visionary.
Ojudu claimed that Buhariโs lack of vision led him to oppose former Vice President Yemi Osinbajoโs presidential bid.
He, however, described Buhari as a patriot and an incorruptible leader.
