Reports from Jos, Plateau State, reveal proper security at the new camp of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation at Waye Foundation in Jos South Local Government Area of the state.

OsunDailyNG reports that prospective corps members of Batch B, Stream 1, are set to arrive starting Friday (today) at the new camp.

According to Daily Trust, who visited the new campground, there was tight security as some members were sighted to have started arriving.

Recall that the spokesperson of the state NYSC, Eddy Megwa, in a statement issued on Tuesday, announced the shifting of the camp from Mangu.

He said, โ€œThis is to inform members of the public, especially our esteemed prospective corps members, that the venue of the 2023 Batch โ€˜Bโ€™ Stream One Orientation Camp for Plateau State has been changed from the Permanent Orientation Camp in Mangu to Waye Foundation, by Buken Academy Doi-Du (Temporary NYSC Orientation Camp) in Jos South Local Government Area of Plateau State.

โ€œAll prospective corps members are, by this information, expected to report at the new orientation camp (Waye Foundation by Buken Academy) on the dates specified in their call-up letters. Kindly take note of this new development.โ€

The shift in the orientation camp venue resulted from the recent killings of more than 200 people in the Mangu Local Government Area, the permanent venue of the Plateau State NYSC campground.

For this reason, the NYSC authorities decided to move to a temporary venue.

Sources said the change in the venue was solely to avoid any adverse unforeseen circumstances that might occur during the orientation exercise.

OsunDailyNG, however, gathered that the new venue, Waye Foundation was originally a skill acquisition centre.

According to Daily Trust, officials of the NYSC have been deployed to ensure all necessary facilities for the smooth running of the camp have been put in place, as some said camping wouldnโ€™t be that way based on the short time to prepare.

Security personnel were seen searching the luggage of members who were already arriving at the well-fenced structure for safety reasons.

It was learned that the venue has a couple of structures that would serve the various activities during the orientation exercise, as it was observed that some business owners had started setting up shops for sales.
