Tension has gripped the Ajiran community in the Agungi area of Lekki, Lagos, following the gruesome murder of Demola, the first son of the Ojomu of Ajiran land, Tijani Akinloye.
The tragic incident occurred on Monday near Chevron Drive, close to Ebano Supermarket, according to sources familiar with the situation who spoke with Punch.
A source, who requested anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the case, revealed that Demola was shot and butchered by unidentified gunmen, sparking fear and anxiety among community members.
The brutal assassination has led to a mass exodus from the area, as residents are fearful of further violence.
The management of an estate in the vicinity confirmed the tragic incident in a notice sent to Punch, urging residents to avoid the Chevron, Agungi, and Ajiran areas due to the escalating tension.
The statement read, โThis is to notify all residents that Ajiran (Agungi) kingโs son was assassinated today along Chevron Drive (close to Ebano Supermarket) this morning.
โWe therefore plead to our esteemed residents to avoid Chevron area, Agungi and Ajiran for now for their safety.โ
When contacted, the spokesperson for the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin, said he was not privy to the matter.
โI am not aware, I will contact you once Iโm privy to the information,โ he said.
