The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced the restoration of the total electricity supply to Damaturu in Yobe State and Maiduguri in Borno State, following extensive repairs on the 330kV Gombe-Damaturu-Maiduguri transmission line.

In a statement on Friday, Ndidi Mbah, TCNโ€™s General Manager of Public Affairs, confirmed that the Gombe-Damaturu line was successfully reactivated at approximately 7:25 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30.

Additionally, partial electricity supply was restored to the Damaturu-Maiduguri (Molai) segment by Thursday afternoon.

Mbah noted that the recent power challenges followed the vandalism of Tower 372 along the 330kV transmission line on September 22, 2024, which had disrupted the lineโ€™s operations.

TCNโ€™s swift repair work underscores its commitment to ensuring stable power supply across the region despite ongoing challenges.

The restored transmission line is expected to enhance daily life and support economic activities for residents in Yobe and Borno states, who have endured weeks of limited power access.

The Statement read, โ€œThe Transmission Company of Nigeria has restored full power supply through the Gombe-Damaturu- Maiduguri 330kV transmission line.

โ€œPower supply was fully restored on Gombe โ€“ Damaturu line about 7:25 pm, on the 30th, and on the Damaturu โ€“ Maiduguri (Molai) part of the line, supply was restored yesterday, October 31, 2024, around 2:01 pm.

โ€œThe vandalised tower was rebuilt, and the stringing of the line was completed on the 23rd of October 2024, at about 12:48 pm.

โ€œTCN was, however, unable to immediately restore bulk power supply through the line due to the vandalism of the Ugwuaji-Apir transmission line.

โ€œPower supply has, however, been fully restored along the Gombe โ€“ Damaturu โ€“ Maiduguri 330kV transmission line.โ€

The company further sought the help of Nigerians to stop vandalism of electricity infrastructure for the greater economic good.

It added, โ€œTCN is again calling on the public to join in the fight against power installation vandalism to safeguard the future of electricity in Nigeria.

โ€œPlease report suspicious activities around transmission installations to security operatives or TCN offices nationwide.โ€
