Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State on Friday presented a N311.4 billion 2024 budget to the House of Assembly for consideration and approval.
The proposed 2024 budget is tagged โBudget of Moving Forward.โ
He highlighted the achievements and challenges of the 2023 budget, revealing a 26.2 per cent performance against the expected 75 per cent.
The governor detailed the performance of various sectors, emphasizing key accomplishments in agriculture, works and infrastructure, as well as healthcare, education and water resources.
According to him, notable achievements of the 2023 budget include agricultural productivity improvements, infrastructure development and healthcare interventions.
The 2024 budget, estimated at โฆ311.4 billion, aims to foster sustainable growth across multiple sectors, the governor said.
Kefas outlined strategic allocations, with a significant emphasis on education, healthcare, agriculture, energy, mining, infrastructure, security, and environmental conservation.
The breakdown of the budget, showing allocations for various sectors, reveals that education will receive 13.9 per cent, health 10.6 per cent, infrastructure 8.0 per cent, agriculture 6.1 per cent, energy 6.5 per cent, environment 5.2 per cent, security 2.9 per cent, and governance 21.0 per cent.
The governor urged the House of Assembly to consider and deliberate on the budget.
