The Super Falcons of Nigeria are now the 32nd-best womenโ€™s national team in the world, according to the latest FIFA rankings.

The FIFA Womenโ€™s ranking, which was released on Friday, August 25, is the first since the conclusion of the 2023 Womenโ€™s World Cup co-hosted by Australia and New Zealand.

Due to the performance of the Super Falcons of Nigeria at the tournament, which saw them qualify for the round of 16 after beating co-hosts Australia, and drawing with Canada and the Republic of Ireland, the team moved up eight places from the 40th spot.

The Super Falcons gained 94 points to reach 1649 points overall, pushing them to the 32nd spot in the global rankings and maintaining their hold of the first spot in Africa.

South Africa, who also had a fair outing at the 2023 Womenโ€™s World Cup after winning the last edition of the African Womenโ€™s Nations Cup, moved to 45th in the world, and second in Africa.

Other African womenโ€™s teams in the top five in Africa include third-placed Cameroon with 1445 points and ranked 56th in the world; Morocco and Ghana, are 4th and 5th in Africa and 58th and 59th in the world, respectively.

The current world champions, Spain, are currently ranked second in the world despite winning the world title over England for the first time in their history.

Sweden, who beat Australia to win the third-placed match at the tournament, moved from third in the world to first in the latest FIFA rankings.

Despite an abysmal outing at the World Cup, the United States are the third-best team in the world. World Cup finalists England are fourth, while France complete the top five world ranking.
