Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has affirmed the commitment of Nigerian governors to effectively implement a new minimum wage for workers.
The governor made the declaration on his verified Facebook page following his participation in a meeting in Yola, convened by the Tripartite Committee on National Minimum Wage (North-East Zone) on Friday.
“We are collaborating to ensure the smooth implementation of the new minimum wage,” he stated.
The governor further expressed gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his support of the state governments and his endeavors to enhance the well-being of all Nigerians.
OsunDailyNG reports that the federal government constituted a 37-member Tripartite Committee in January to negotiate and agree on the new minimum wage due to take effect this year.
The federal government also fixed public hearings to get the input of the general public, labour and pressure groups, and religious and business leaders.
The discussions were held in Yola, Northeast; Kano, Northwest; Abuja, Northcentral; Uyo, South South; Enugu, Southeast, and Lagos, Southwest on Friday.
