Nobel Laureate Prof Wole Soyinka on Monday paid a courtesy visit to Ogun State Governor Dapo Abiodun at the Government House in Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The governor via his social media shared photos of the professor’s visit, noting that it was a pleasure to have received Soyinka who turned 89 last month.
The governor said he was grateful for Soyinka’s counsel and support.
“It gives us great pleasure to have received in audience, Prof. Wole Soyinka, a Nobel Laureate in Literature, patriotic Nigerian and proud son of Ogun State, who paid us a courtesy visit today at Oke-Mosan,” he wrote.
“We are appreciative of his elderly advise and kind support that are of immense value,” Abiodun added.
Meanwhile, Professor Wole Soyinka, recently asked Nigerian singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, not to apologise over the controversial music video he posted on his social media platforms.
OsunDailyNG understands that Davido posted a music video of the new record of his label artist, Logos Olori, on his Twitter page on Friday morning.
The 45-second clip video, as seen by this publication, showed some people dressed in white clothes praying the way the Muslims do before launching into dancing.
However, some Nigerian Muslims, especially in the North, have found the video offensive and asked the music star to delete the video and apologise for his action.
Despite deleting the video forty-eight hours after it was posted, some Muslims are still demanding a public apology from Davido.
However, Soyinka in a statement released on Tuesday, said Davido did not owe Muslims an apology.
The literary icon said former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El Rufai had made offensive comments against Christians in the past but was never asked to tender an apology.
