The Chairman Police Service Commission, PSC, Solomon Arase, has expressed concern at the continued lack of interest among South East youths in pursuing careers in the Nigeria Police Force, NPF.

Arase, who spoke in a statement released by Ikechukwu Ani,
Head, Press and Public Relations, on Wednesday, called on the leaders of the zone to find a way of convincing the youths to embrace the opportunity the ongoing recruitment has provided.

According to the statement, it will be difficult for anybody to listen to cries of marginalisation from the zone if the people choose to remain indifferent to the Federal Governmentโ€™s decision to offer employment to Nigerian youths into the Police Force.

Arase urged the South East to maximise the remaining five weeks for enrollment into the NPF, adding that as the zone is currently a hot bed for rebellion by non-state actors, the youths should have been in the forefront to join the Police Force and bring indigenous solution to the menace.

The statement further gave the statistics of leading states in the ongoing recruitment application.

Kaduna State is leading with
20,259 youths having already completed the online applications, while Adamawa State followed with 18,933 applications.

Others are Borno State, 18,305; Bauchi, 16,554; Katsina, 16,232 and Kano, 15,888.

โ€œNext to Anambra State from the rear are Ebonyi, 737; Abia, 966 and Imo 999. Bayelsa, has 1020; Enugu, 1036; Lagos, 1259; Delta, 1338 and Edo 1526,โ€ the statement added.

According to the statement, 242, 391 males have already completed their applications while only 35,405 females have applied.
