The Wife of Anambra Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, on Tuesday visited a set of newly delivered quadruplets and triplets, urging pregnant women to take advantage of the ongoing free antenatal care and delivery services in the state.

The governor’s wife visited the babies at the Referral Health Centre, Awgbu, and Enugwuabo Health Centre, Ufuma in Orumba North Local Government Area.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor’s wife gave gifts to the quadruplets born to Mrs Amuche Anoliefo, from Agulu, Anaocha Local Government Area.

She also gave gifts to the triplets born to Mrs Ujunwa Edeh, who hails from Eha Amufu, Enugu State.

Mrs Soludo said that the state government’s policy on free antenatal care and delivery services would reduce financial burden on families as well as cater for the health needs of pregnant women.

According to her, the current administration will continue to unveil smart health policies that will impact positively and directly on the poor and vulnerable in the state.

“When I heard the news, I decided to pay a surprise visit to celebrate the two mothers and present them with gifts for the babies.

“I’m happy you benefited from the free antenatal care and delivery services because you have saved costs worth millions of naira. I want to encourage pregnant women in the state to take advantage of the policy.

“I urge the nursing mothers to ensure they feed the babies with natural food supplements and ensure they get all the necessary vaccines to grow healthy,” she said.

Mrs Soludo thanked the staff and the team of doctors who took delivery of the babies for taking good care of the mothers during pregnancy.

In her response, the mother of the quadruplets, Anoliefo commended the state government for its investment in the healthcare of residents, especially pregnant women.

“I am very grateful to the wife of our governor and her husband. God has used them to touch our lives and those of our children,’’ she said.

Also, the mother of the triplets, Edeh, thanked the wife of the governor for her benevolence.
