An inferno occurred at the well-known Ebute Ero Market in Lagos State on Saturday, destroying numerous lock-up shops.

It was gathered that the fire incident started in the early hours of the day, impacting a portion of the market situated near a police station and Carter Bridge on Lagos Island.

The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, confirmed the occurrence in a statement released on Saturday.

She noted that the fire was contained and prevented from spreading further due to the prompt response of firefighters.

Fortunately, no casualties have been reported as a result of the incident; however, an investigation is currently underway to assess the extent of the damage and the estimated financial losses incurred.

OsunDailyNG reports that the fire incident came barely four days after the Radio Nigeria facility on Plot No. 35, Ikoyi Road, Lagos, reportedly went into flames.

It was reported earlier that the incident raised significant alarm and prompted an immediate intervention from emergency services.

Reports said officials had initiated an investigation into the occurrence.

The Director of the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Margaret Adeseye, noted in a statement on Thursday morning that the agency received an emergency call at approximately 5:30 PM.

Firefighters from the Dolphin, Ebute Elefun, and Oba Onitolo Fire Stations swiftly responded to combat the flames, which had consumed the studio area of the building.

Efforts to completely extinguish the fire and evaluate the damage are still in progress.
