The family of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi has refuted rumours circulating on social media of his demise.

Similarly, disciplines of the renowned cleric described the story filtering the social media platform as a figment of imagination without any iota of truth.

Recall that there were speculations about the Sheikh‘s health in some sections of the social media last week.

However, clarifications from family members and associates, along with recent photos shared on social media, attest to Sheikh Dahiru’s well-being and his recent activities, including the successful completion of Ramadan Qur’anic Tafsir.

Sirr Abdullah Sheikh, one of the cleric’s sons, who debunked the rumour on his verified Facebook page on Sunday said “Maulana Sheikh is in a good condition of health. He will be back to Bauchi today from Abuja; he will be back home this evening.”

“It is simply the machinations of some religious foes whose preoccupation is to disrupt peace and peaceful co-existence,” he stated.

A disciple of the Sheikh, Abubakar Ibrahim Wunti, who also dismissed the rumours, said “Sheikh Maulana Dahiru is alive. He will be back from Abuja to Bauchi today because he didn’t go for the lesser Hajj.”

He explained that “What the Sheikh is battling with is old age, not sickness, and we are constantly praying to God to improve his health condition to overcome the old age, and may Allah also lead the rumour peddlers onto the right path.

OsunDailyNG recalls that this is not the first time rumours about the death of the nonagenarian will be going viral on social media.

In August 2021, rumours were also rife on social media that the 94-year-old cleric was dead, prompting his followers and admirers to troop to his house to see for themselves.

Sheikh Bauchi, who is one of the leaders of the Sufi group, Tijjaniya Movement, in Nigeria, however, debunked the rumours himself in a voice message circulated online, declaring that he is not only alive but also yet to complete his divine assignment on earth.

The scholar, who is well known for his Qur’an Tafsir, urged the rumour peddlers to wait until it would be time for him to join his fellow Muslims who had passed away.
