AC Milanโs new signing, Samuel Chukwueze, has insisted that he didnโt join the Italian giants for the money but to win titles and make a name for himself.
Before he secured the move, his former club, Villarreal tried to extend his contract, but Samuel Chukwueze reportedly refused to extend it.
One of the reasons why the 24-year-old Nigeria international refused to extend his stay at the club was his demand for better pay, a demand the Spanish side refused to meet.
Amidst that, AC Milan showed up and were willing to offer the skillful winger a more lucrative deal and a better chance of winning titles.
Hence, Samuel Chukwueze who scored 13 goals for Villarreal last season signed a five-year deal with the Italian giants which will reportedly earn him โฌ4 million per season.
On Wednesday, August 9, Chukwueze made his debut for the Italian side in a pre-season friendly game against Trofeo Berlusconi. He was introduced late in the game which Milan won via penalties.
Before the game, Chukwueze held an unveiling press conference in which he said he aims to win the Scudatto and the UEFA Champions League with AC Millan.
โA player grows with each passing year. I want to make history with Milan. I did well in Spain, it is a great opportunity to showcase my talent. Iโve already set my goal, so donโt worry,โ he said.
โI canโt wait to get started. I think we have the team to beat anyone in Serie A, so meeting Inter, Juventus, for sure we can beat them.
โI didnโt come to watch or earn money; Iโm here to win trophies. My work is to play football and write my name in the history of Milan so that people will remember me in the future.
โI want to make a name for myself and Milan. I canโt come here and not win. My priority is to win something, Scudetto, Champions League, Coppa Italia.โ
