The Nasarawa State House of Assembly has called for calm over the recent protest organized by indigenes of the state resident in Lagos over the alleged sale of the Nasarawa liaison office by former Governor, Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.

The House assured its citizens that a thorough investigation into the matter is underway, appealing to all parties to remain calm.

The Assembly also set up a 9-man ad-hoc committee, headed by lawmaker, Larry Ven Bawa, to conduct an in-depth investigation into the alleged sale.

The committeeโ€™s main focus is to gather detailed information about the sale and ascertain its legality and implications.

Upon arrival in Lagos State, the committee chairman, Bawa, accompanied by other lawmakers, visited the location of the alleged sale โ€“ a two-storey building situated at plot 1234 Bishop Oluwole, Victoria Island.

The committee thoroughly inspected the building to gain a better understanding of the situation.

Bawa stated, โ€œWe are here as directed by the Speaker, Hon Ibrahim Balarabe Abdullahi, based on our resolutions during the House proceedings to investigate the alleged sale of state government properties in Lagos and other states by the administration of former Governor Umaru Tanko Al-Makura.โ€

โ€œWe also aim to find out the real cause of the protest here in Lagos, evaluate the building, understand our peopleโ€™s conditions and situations, especially those arrested.

โ€œWe will investigate if the building was indeed sold, identify the buyer, scrutinize the transaction process, and determine if the funds were deposited into the state government coffers or not.โ€

The Chairman advised the protesting indigenes to halt their demonstrations, assuring them that the State Assembly would conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the truth regarding the alleged sale.

The President of Nasarawa State Development Association in Lagos Musa Ikushigya, expressed appreciation for the lawmakersโ€™ visit and pledged to extend full cooperation to allow them investigate the matter comprehensively.
