Portuguese professional footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo, has boasted that his arrival at Juventus revived the Italian Serie A.
According to Ronaldo, the Italian league was dead at the time he joined Juventus in 2018.
OsunDailyNG understands that the 38-year-old star, who currently plays as a forward for and captains Saudi Professional League club Al Nassr, said this during an interaction with Portuguese media following Al-Nassrโs 5-0 defeat against Celta Vigo last night.
Last nightโs match was Al-Nassrโs first game since the official commencement of the pre-season tour.
During the media chat, however, Ronaldo claimed that he is the reason many high-profile players are leaving Europe and joining clubs in the Saudi Pro League.
The former Real Madrid and Juventus superstar boasted: โWhen I joined Juventus, Serie A was dead, and then after I signedโฆ it was revived.
โWherever Cristiano goes, he generates higher interest.โ
Ronaldo won four Champions Leagues, two La Liga titles, two Copas del Rey, three UEFA Super Cups and three Club World Cups with Real Madrid before signing for Juventus in a transfer worth an initial โฌ100 million (ยฃ88 million) in 2018.
It was the most expensive transfer for an Italian club and for a player over 30 years old.
