Amid the prolonged face-off with the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, the Rivers State governor, Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed readiness to give peace a chance.

Recall that the governor and other stakeholders entered into an eight-point agreement in Abuja on Monday in a bid to end the political crisis in the state.

The agreement was reached after President Bola Tinubu met with Wike, Fubara and other stakeholders at the State House.

Speaking on the eight-point resolutions released by the stakeholders to quell the fight between the duo, Fubara, who spoke on Tuesday at the 3rd Convocation and 6th Founders Day ceremonies of the PAMO University of Medical Sciences in Iriebe Town, said he is ready to pay the price for peace.

The governor expressed his commitment to ensuring peace in the state and among the people to foster development.

He said: “There is no price that will be too big to pay to ensure that peace prevails.”

Governor Fubara also assured the people of the state that his administration would ensure access to quality education and healthcare in the state

He said: “While some progress has been made, it is obvious that a lot still needs to be done to achieve our collective aspirations for universal access to quality education and healthcare for our people.

“I need not say that no society can progress without educated and healthy people.”
