Erstwhile National Publicity Secretary of the defunct New Peoples Democratic Party, nPDP, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has told President Bola Tinubu to call the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike to order.

This is following a fresh threat of impeachment against Governor Siminalayi Fubara, issued by members of the State Assembly led by Marthin Amaewhule.

Eze, a Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Tinubu โ€œto prevail on Wike to curtail the excesses of the 27 lawmakers,โ€ who he described โ€œas the ministerโ€™s foot soldiers.โ€

Eze said it was necessary at this point that Tinubu โ€œcalls Wike to order to save the situation of a perceptible breakdown of democratic institutions by the lawmakersโ€ who, according to him, โ€œare taking orders and prohibitions from the Minister.โ€

OsunDailyNG reported during the week that Governor Fubara had publicly stated that some Local Government chairmen in the state are showing him some levels of disrespect.

The governor has been at loggerheads with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory.

Fubara said the local government chairmen had dug pits they would fall into.

The governor spoke directly to the Local Government Chairman of the Ogba-Egbema-Ndoni Local Government Area of Rivers State, Vincent Job, yesterday during the commissioning of the Comprehensive Primary Healthcare Centre.

As political crisis and power tussle between the governor and his predecessor, some local government chairmen, alongside majority of the state assembly members had distanced themselves from Fubara-led state government functions, backing the minister.

But Eze, in a statement on Friday, said it was weird for the lawmakers to issue impeachment threats to the Governor when there exists no trace of any verifiable infraction committed by the later to warrant such infamous proclamation.

The APC Chief urged Gov. Fubara to โ€œremain focused in delivering democratic dividends to Rivers people and pay no heed to the antics of detractors who are hellbent on frustrating efforts of impacting the people with good governance.โ€
