Abia State Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie has asked the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, to always report the misconduct of any officer to the Complaint Response Unit in the Command.
The Commissioner gave the charge on Tuesday when he welcomed the executive members of the Association, who paid him a courtesy visit.
He emphasized the Commandโs commitment to accountability and transparency, urging the student body to creatively brainstorm and peacefully attend to internal challenges without necessarily resorting to violence.
CP Onwuemelie also urged the NANS members to refrain from taking laws into their own hands, reminding them to uphold the law by remaining law-abiding citizens at all times.
He highlighted the importance of collaboration between the Nigerian Police and the Abia State students for a safer community.
Earlier in their speech, the members of NANS led by Prince Jacob Nwaoma, expressed gratitude to the officers and men of the Abia State Police Command for their tireless efforts in addressing past challenges.
The students used the opportunity of the visit to inform the CP of their concerns and present challenges and thanked him for giving them a warm reception.
