A former aide to ex-President Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad has called for a reflection on the achievements of the former Nigerian leader while in office.

Ahmad in a post via his account on the X platform said not only Buhariโ€™s accomplishments should be remembered by Nigerians but also the values and principles he embodied.

According to the former presidential aide, the legacy of dedication and love for the country as demonstrated by Buhari should be a guiding light for future generations.

He wrote: โ€œAs we remember His Excellency @MBuhari, it is important that we not only reflect on his accomplishments but also strive to carry forward the values and principles he embodied. We should ensure that his legacy of dedication and love for the country remains a guiding light for future generations.โ€

OsunDailyNG reports Ahmad made the submission in reaction to an earlier post by Mohammed Jammal who was of the opinion that Buhari is a statesman who was a beacon of hope, integrity, compassion, and vision.

โ€œRemembering a true statesperson today. @MBuhari was a beacon of hope, integrity, compassion, and vision. His unwavering dedication to the people and the nation was an inspiration to us all. His legacy of love for the country and its citizens lives on,โ€ Jammal wrote on his X account.

The submission by Ahmad however didnโ€™t sit well with many netizens who took to the comment section of his post to react and express regret about Buhariโ€™s tenure in office. See some of the reactions:

@emkaydee: Indeed, his legacy of borrowing has been kept intact.

@bunnies04: Failure as accomplishments ba

@Gbeinzi: I thought he would end corruption but he happened to be the most corrupt leader Nigeria had.

@1308_Oxygen: As we commonly say,In the city of the blind a one eyed man is the kingโ€ฆ

@Mr_Anasko: Yes! We will never forget how he scammed us.

@Abdullahi141758: We remember him and thank god he left.

@gomina001: We will always remember him for the 8 years hardship he caused us.

@Odirapc: Lmao, you canโ€™t whitewash our experiences. Away with your filthy values and empty legacy. We totally understand his love for the north and thatโ€™s okay too.

@IykeAndi: Buhari and accomplishment cannot be in the same sentence.

@GOZLIN001: We wonโ€™t forget the disaster called Buhari not in the next 50yrs.

@Musa95Aliu: As for me, I donโ€™t miss him at all. Wasted opportunities under him. The inequalities one society became widened during his regime.

@Mamigreat: Remembering him for what. Someone that failed woefully as the president. Abeg go and rest jor.
