Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has called on citizens to collaborate for peace, unity and good governance.

He also called for a return to the spirit of love and brotherhood practised in the past.

Mutfwang stated this while breaking fast with the Muslim Ummah at the New Government House in Little Rayfield Jos.

The Governor emphasised the significance of the gathering in fostering mutual understanding, strengthening bonds of brotherhood, and collectively working towards a peaceful, united, and prosperous Plateau.

He underscored the importance of transcending differences in faith, ethnicity, or status to combat the common challenges facing the state, emphasizing that decades of violence have benefitted no one.

While expressing gratitude to the Emir of Keffi, His Royal Highness Alh. Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa, the Emir of Borgu, Alh. Muhammed Sani Haliru, and other Islamic leaders for their presence at the event, the Governor noted that their participation will help to foster cohesion and enduring friendships across divides.

โ€œI am delighted that we have gathered in this welcoming atmosphere to share a meal without fear or suspicion; Plateau belongs to all of us, and it is our choice whether to unite as wise individuals or perish as fools.โ€

He highlighted the ample reasons for the citizens of Plateau State to coexist harmoniously and strive towards a state where all citizens can conduct their affairs without fear.

He urged the Muslim Ummah to view their gathering as the beginning of positive developments for the state and a solid foundation for Nigeriaโ€™s unity and peace.

โ€œWe are committed to making Plateau a role model for Nigeria, exemplifying inclusiveness, justice, and fairness. As your Governor, I continually pray for the wisdom to lead Plateau aright.โ€

The Emir of Keffi, Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa, and the Emir of Borgu, Alh. Muhammed Sani Haliru, commended the Governorโ€™s commitment to justice, fairness, and inclusive governance in the state.

They prayed for Governor Mutfwang to be endowed with more wisdom, knowledge and strength to further elevate the state, citing evidence of a promising start and urging citizensโ€™ support for the administration.

Also speaking, Chairman of Jamaโ€™atul Nasri Islam, JNI, in the State and Emir of Wase, Alh. Muhammadu Sambo Haruna expressed gratitude to the Governor for supporting the Muslim community in the.

He noted that 70 percent of road rehabilitation and repairs in the Jos metropolis were within the Muslim community.

He dispelled rumours about the Governorโ€™s stance towards Muslims, citing Mutfwangโ€™s tangible efforts to develop the Muslim community in less than a year, surpassing the achievements of previous administrations.

He urged the Muslim Ummah to support the Governorโ€™s administration for the peace, unity, and progress of the State, and the greater good of the Ummah.
