Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has promised to support the families of Mallam Sanusi Hassan, the Katsina Community Watch Corps Commander for Kankara Local Government Area, and others who died fighting bandits in Yar Tepa during the week.
Hassan, along with four vigilantes and two young men, lost their lives during a fierce encounter with bandits loyal to notorious kingpins Dankarami and Barbaru.
โThe Katsina State Government under my leadership will not abandon the families of the deceased,โ Radda stated.
โThey will be supported in every way possible to cushion the hardship they face in the wake of this immense loss.โ
The governor acknowledged the immense sacrifice made by the slain security personnel, describing them as โtrue heroes of warโ who bravely defended their communities against criminal elements.
In a statement on Friday, the governorโs spokesman, Ibrahim Kaula Mohammed, disclosed that the gunfight, which claimed the lives of the KCWC Commander, resulted in the elimination of over 100 bandits and the recovery of numerous stolen cattle.
The Katsina governor urged the families of the deceased not to despair, but rather be comforted that their loved ones died while battling to restore lasting peace and security to the state.
While commending the security forces for their gallantry, the governor vowed to continue the fight against banditry until lasting peace is restored in the state.
He assured residents that the memories of the fallen heroes would be honored, and their fight for peace would not be in vain.
โThis terrible incident will not dampen our morale to restore peace and security in our troubled Katsina,โ the governor declared.
โThe Katsina State Government shall ensure that terrorists holding the state hostage are all eliminated, very soon.โ
