Angry youths, on Tuesday, blocked the Gusau-Kaura Namoda highway at the Sakajiki community axis, protesting the resurgence of terror attacks, killings, abductions and other criminal activities in the State.
DAILY POST gathered that the ravaging terrorists had abducted women from the community, killed several others and set many houses ablaze.
The youths said the hoodlums also allegedly used a Police patrol vehicle (Hilux) they snatched to loot foodstuffs from the community.
The community has since been deserted by its people, with houses, schools, mosques, and shops closed down by owners.
According to some residents, the bandits attacked the village on Monday night (October 16) and allegedly killed one mobile police officer.
The youths from the community came out in their large numbers to the highway on Tuesday, obstructing motorists and other road users for about five hours.
As the tension became uncontrollable, the State Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Shehu Dalijan, arrived at the scene, accompanied by the Emir of Kaura Namoda, Sanusi Muhammad Asha, whose arrival caught the protestersโ attention.
The Emir pleaded with the youths of Sakajiki village to sheathe their swords, assuring that the security forces were taking drastic measures to end the persistent banditry in the village and the State.
Addressing the people, the State Police Commissioner said he was at the village at the instance of Governor Dauda Lawal, promising that the State government would deploy more security operatives with sophisticated weapons to the axis.
