The Ogun State police command has reacted to a report that three pupils were kidnapped from Salawu Abiola Comprehensive High School, Abeokuta.

The command denied the report which it said was being circulated online in the wake of Friday, September 29, 2023.

The police said that the online report that โ€œthree pupils of Salawu Abiola Comprehensive High School, Abeokuta were kidnappedโ€ was circulated โ€œwithout first getting clarifications from the Command.โ€

According to the Police Public Relations Officer in Ogun State, Omolola Odutola, โ€œthe Command hereby reiterates that the report is misleading and capable of creating a state of panic and false alarm when nothing of such happened.โ€

The Command confirmed that the alleged case of kidnapping โ€œis false and should be disregarded.โ€

According to Odutola, the Divisional Police Officer In Odeda had conducted an investigation in collaboration with the two Principals of the said school โ€“ Olapade K. O. of Senior School and Bankole T. A. of Junior School.

โ€œThe parents of the pupils were contacted, and none of them reported any case of kidnapping to the school authorities,โ€ Odutola disclosed.

She quoted the Commissioner of Police in Ogun, Abiodun Alamutu, as having assured the public that โ€œsecurity measures have been reinforced across the State.โ€

Alamutu encouraged residents to carry on with their daily routines without any fear or risk to themselves or their properties.
