The Police Recruitment Board has set January 8, 2024, as the official date for the screening process of the 416,270 successful applicants seeking recruitment into the Constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force.

A statement, signed by Ikechukwu Ani, Head, Press and Public Relations on Thursday, December 21st, 2023, stated that the decision was made during a crucial meeting held on Thursday, December 21st, at the Police Service Commission’s Corporate Headquarters in Jabi, Abuja.

Upon the closure of the Recruitment Portal earlier this month, a remarkable 416,270 Nigerian youths were identified as meeting the initial requirements for the next phase of the recruitment exercise.

Among these applicants, 315,065 are vying for positions in the General Duty category, while 101,205 have aspirations for roles in the specialist cadre.

Letters of invitation to the successful candidates are scheduled to be dispatched on or before December 23, 2023.

According to the statement, the screening phase will encompass both physical and credentials’ assessments, conducted in the applicants’ respective states of origin.

The Board stated that candidates invited for the screening exercise must come prepared with original copies of their certificates and other credentials, including letters of attestation from their Local Government Chairmen and/or traditional rulers.

The dates for further stages of the recruitment process which include a computer-based test (CBT), and a subsequent medical examination will be announced in due course.

Kaduna State emerged with the highest number of successful applicants at 31,117, followed by Adamawa with 29,848; Benue, 25,346; Borno, 24,854; Katsina, 24,239; and Bauchi, 22,958.

Other states with notable numbers include Kano, Niger, Gombe, Yobe, Nasarawa, Jigawa, Taraba, Plateau, and Kebbi.

Anambra State recorded the lowest number of successful applicants at 1,141, followed by Ebonyi, 1,537; Lagos, 1,775; and Abia, 2,110.

The Police Recruitment Board urged candidates to uphold the standards required of Nigerian youths aspiring to join the Nigeria Police Force, an institution guided by strict laws and regulations with discipline as its foundational principle.

Additionally, candidates are warned to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes that promise assistance in exchange for monetary payments, as the entire recruitment process is free and will be conducted based on merit and performance at each stage.
