The Nigeria Police Force has reacted to the brutality meted on a suspected thief after he was apprehended by residents in Lagos state.

According to reports, the man was tracked down by a group of youths after he allegedly stole from one of the residents.

In the trending video, the young man was stripped off his shirt, tied up and beaten mercilessly.

Reacting to the video, the Lagos State Command’s Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, via his Twitter handle on Thursday, 6th July, condemned the action.

Hundeyin asked users to help with a screenshot of what the law states in such scenario, he said, “Someone help me screenshot Section 34 of the Nigerian Constitution, please.”

Lagos Police Reveal Numbers Of Defilement Cases

In other news, the Nigeria Police Force has disclosed that between April and June, it recorded 111 defilement cases in Lagos State.

Confirming the development, the Lagos State Command’s Spokesperson, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, during an interview with journalists on Wednesday.

Hundeyin said that the command was concerned about the increasing number of defilement cases in the state.

He said that within the same period, 14 rape cases and 56 cases of domestic violence were recorded.
