Operatives of the Adamawa State Police Command have raided a criminal hideout, killing two suspected kidnappers.
The Command, which disclosed this in a statement on Monday, said the operation was carried out on Sunday, December 3.
In the statement released by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, Suleiman Nguroje, the Command said it disconnected the criminal network operating in parts of Taraba, Adamawa, Gombe, and Yobe states as well as Cameroon.
“The planned operation was carried out by the Command’s operatives attached to Crack Squad in a joint operation with hunters.
“The outcome of these successes followed up on collaborative strategies designed by the command to checkmate cases bordering on kidnapping, armed robbery, cattle rustling, unlawful possession of firearms, amongst others,” the statement said.
The PPRO explained that the said police operatives and collaborating hunters had earlier in November 30 designed a security ring around some identified hideouts.
According to him, the effort paid off on December 3 when the suspected kidnappers, “upon sighting our men engaged them in a fierce gun duel, as a result of which two of them were neutralized while others escaped with bullet wounds”.
Four AK-47 rifles and 92 rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspects.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Afolabi Babatola, who appreciated his officers and men as well as the hunters for their gallantry, directed them to go after those on the run and ensure their arrest and prosecution.
