The Commissioner of Police Jigawa state, AT Abdullahi, presented the cheques to twenty-two (22) Next of Kin of Police officers who died while in active service on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, at the Police State Headquarters, Dutse.
The CP, while presenting the cheques, appreciated the effort of the Inspector-General of Police for welfare and urged the beneficiaries to make efficient and judicious use of the money for their betterment.
According to him, โThese officers were not just colleagues; they were brothers and sisters in blue, standing shoulder-to-shoulder in the face of danger, safeguarding our communities with firm resolve. They ran towards the flames when others ran away. They faced down threats to protect the vulnerable. They gave their lives in the noble pursuit of keeping us safe.โ
โTo the families of the late officers, words cannot express the depth of your loss. Your loved ones were not simply police officers; they were sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, husbands and wives. They were the light of your lives, and their absence leaves a void that can never be truly filled.
โPlease know that you are not alone in your grief. The entire police family stands with you, offering immense support and a shoulder to lean on. We are here to help you navigate this difficult time and to ensure that the sacrifices of your loved ones are never forgotten.
โWe understand that no amount of money can replace the loss of a loved one, but we hope it can ease some of the burdens you face and provide a foundation for the future.โ
Habiba Ekwele Kwale, speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, appreciated the IGP and the Commissioner of Police for their kind gesture, stressing that the money had arrived at a time of current economic hardship and they had promised to utilise it properly.
